Provence | How the U.S. caught rosé fever
Through our work with Wines of Provence, exports grew from 300,000 liters in 2008 to over 20 million by 2018. Average bottle prices were also achieving sustained increases over this time, bringing the market value from $3.4 million to $132 million over this period. This growth was marked by the introduction of new producers into the market and the deepening of distribution building from 32 producers in 2008 to over 200 by 2018. The continued sustained growth in the market has redefined category leadership with Wine Enthusiast highlighting this achievement in 2011 by nominating Provence “Wine Region of the Year”.
“Growth of the dry rosé category following the leadership of Provence is the most successful sustainable category growth in the last 20 years.”
